The 28 hectare Singapore Zoo is one of a kind. The government of Singapore built and opened the zoo in 1973. They have designed their Zoo so that there are no steel bars that get in the way when you are trying to see the animals. Instead, they put the animals in an extensive amount of open land. The enclosures are beautifully landscaped and they each have moats to keep the guests at a safe distance from the animals. For animals that can jump far and climb, the zoo has installed glass enclosures for the guest’s safety while still enabling them to have full view of the animals. The newly opened Rainforest Kidz World will surely keep a smile on the little ones faces. Be amazed at the site of real live polar bears swimming to catch their lunch in the 3.5-metre deep pool that has been built for them. The zoo is so popular that it receives about 1.4 million visitors annually. This should definitely be on your itinerary when in Singapore.
Singapore also has the world’s biggest bird park. Jurong Birdpark has hundreds of species and more than 8,000 birds. There are a number of delightful bird shows that the park offers. The Birds of Prey show stars Eagles, Hawks and Falcons. Watch these birds soar in aerial loops and fly further than you can see. The Birds n Buddies show includes many types of birds. In this show the birds will showcase their own special tricks and talents. Everything you have ever wanted to know about birds will be answered at Jurong Birdpark.
Last, but definitely not the least is the Singapore Night Safari. As the name states this is a night safari so it gets pretty dark. This is a once in a lifetime experience. This is the first wildlife park built especially for visits after the sun has set. There is a train that will conveniently take guests around the park to watch the animals in their natural habitats. Similar to the other animal parks, the Night Safari also has a handful of shows such as the Creatures of the Night show and the Bull Asian Elephant Chawang. Do not miss this original concept.
