Sun Bingo Numbers

Up and up for online bingo by stickystebee-16825

Purveyors of online bingo were rejoicing recently, after Global Betting and Gaming Consultant – GBGC – estimate that the global gross gaming yield of online bingo will grow from $0.5 billion USD in 2006, to almost $1 billion USD by 2010.

Figures from early 2008 also show that online bingo generated wins of $150 million in the previous year, with estimates predicting an increase to almost twice as much by 2013. The new statistics can only be good news for both online bingo players and owners of bingo sites with both player numbers and winnings increasing. Similar figures for the UK alone show that players spend around £600 million a year.

Scott Logan, managing director of a major online bingo company said this of the estimated growth, “We’ve seen unprecedented growth in the online bingo industry here in the UK in the past year, the fact that online bingo players are purchasing bingo tickets in the realm of £600 million annually is truly amazing considering the credit crunch, but not surprising considering the licensing of the online gaming industry in the UK.”

Another figure which was release recently by Mintel claims that bingo is the most popular leisure activity for UK women between the ages of 20 and 25, a figure which dispels the age-old assumption that bingo is only for senior women. However it is also true that many “traditional” bingo players have failed to make the transition from bingo halls to cyberspace, with statistics showing that as little as 1% of “land based” bingo players have made the switch.

UK online bingo in particular has a well-established group of companies which cater for players, and their market shares are as follows:

“Sun bingo” leads the market with 19% of the turnover market, “Gala bingo” holds 16 %, “Foxy bingo” 13%, “Jackpot Joy” 10% and “Mecca bingo” has 7%. One of the first online bingo games to emerge was named “Bingo Zone”, which was a free bingo game that launched in 1996. Uproar provided another early online bingo service, and launched “Bingo Blitz in” 1998.
