Phoenix Suns Hat
The Phoenix Sun by Travis Niblett
If there is one thing Phoenix, and all of Arizona, is known for it is the heat. Not only is it one of the hottest places in the country, but it is also very dangerous for people who do not know what to do in the sun. Excess sun has not only been known to cause mild to severe sunburns, but it is also linked to skin cancer and other major diseases. The sun also causes eye damage for people who are not ready for it. Knowing what to do in a sunny state such as Arizona can not only make it more enjoyable, but it can also save your life. This article will detail a few things you need to know before going out into the Arizona sun.
The first and most important thing to remember when going out is to wear sunscreen. Sunscreen and sun block are not only for swimming, but it is useful for anytime you are going outside. An SPF of 15 is the bare minimum that you should wear, but an SPF of 30 or above is highly recommended. If you are out in the sun for long periods at a time it is important to reapply sunscreen about every two hours. And when applying it, it is very important that you are liberal and put plenty on yourself. It is always better safe than sorry when dealing with sunscreen.
Another good way to get out of the way of the sun rays is to wear a hat. Many different types of hats work. Some people wear simple baseball caps while others wear large hats that go all the way around. The choice is yours but it is a great way to keep the sun rays off of your face and head. You usually do not put sunscreen on the top of your head and a hat is the best way to protect your head.
The sun not only can damage skin, but it can also cause eye damage. This can be both over time, and right away. The aging process is accelerated with exposure of the sun. Of course, you should do what your mother said and never look directly at the sun, but even when you do not do this the sun can be causing eye damage. The best way to protect your eyes is by wearing sunglasses. You can barely go anywhere in Phoenix without seeing people with sunglasses. This is because they know the advantages of them. Not only is it a lot more comfortable to look around with them, it can be saving your eyesight and it is a great fashion statement. They can be especially useful when you are driving because you may not always be able to look away from the sun.
Following the above safety precautions before going out into the Phoenix sun will not only make you more comfortable in the short run but it will also keep you healthier in the long run. Remember to use plenty of sun screen and keep the harmful rays away from your skin and eyes and you should be just fine in the summertime in Phoenix.
